Explorers!!

At the Timber Cove Fire Department we have a program for teens 14-18 called
Explorers. The Explorers come weekly to our drills and trainings an hour early.
(6 pm)

They can learn, ask questions, and run through a quick exercise of what will be
taught to the Firefighters, Captains, and Chiefs later that night. The Explorers will
also take part in the Drill or meeting with them. If you are under 16 and have
enough training you are eligible to go on calls. (At the Fire Chief's Discretion)
Once you are 16 you are eligible to go out of district once again at the Chief's
discretion. The Explorers will take part in Wildland, Structure, Medical, Rope
Rescue, and Vehicle accident trainings. All Explorers are covered under insurance.
If you have questions or would like to join please call
Timber Cove Fire at 847-3299.

The Coast Explorer Program is similar to the Timber Cove Explorers but is much
more intense. Again ages are from 14-18 and all teens are covered under an
insurance policy you can ask about. CAL FIRE employees teach the trainings and
drills every second and last Friday in the evening at 5:30. The Coast Explorers will
go more in-depth about the subjects listed above with the addition of Physical
Training.

One of the benefits to joining either one or both of these Explorer Groups would
be: you get an insight into the fire service so you can see a little of what it will be
like if you were a firefighter. Being an Explorer will help you get a job whether it
is in the Fire Dept. or not.

Timber Cove Explorers train every Wednesday from 6 pm to approximately 9 pm,
at the Timber Cove Fire Station on Seaveiw Road at the top of Timber Cove Road.
The phone number is 847-3299.

Coast Explorers train the second and last Friday at The Sea Ranch CAL FIRE
station on Annapolis Road off Hwy 1. You can contact Chelsy Seymour at
847-3721for more information.
